Chang Powers Braves Past Wranglers; Highlanders Rally in 9th for 14th Straight Win

San Antonio (UBAN) - One run was the difference at Wranglers Park as the San Diego Braves defeated the San Antonio Wranglers 7 to 6.
San Antonio never recovered after San Diego took the lead in the 6th inning when they tallied 2 runs on 1 hit. The critical plate appearance was by Yu Chang who deflated the crowd as he smashed a two-run homer. San Antonio tried unsuccessfully to come back in the 9th.
Chris Paddack(1-0) got credit for the victory, pitching 2 and 2/3 innings and allowing no runs. Josh Hader preserved the game for Paddack, recording his his 6th save. Kirby Yates(1-2) was charged with the loss in relief.
The seemingly unstoppable New York Highlanders came roaring back in the top of the ninth in Richmond to spoil the anticipated celebration of the hometown fans. The final score was 5 to 4.
New York won the game with a rally in the 9th inning plating 2 runs using 3 hits. Randal Grichuk led off and he doubled. Riley Greene stepped up to the plate and he bombed a two-run dinger. Justin Lawrence pitched a perfect ninth to earn his 6th save.
Shohei Ohtani(4-1) allowed 4 runs in 8 innings, and picked up the victory. The losing pitcher was Yimi Garcia(2-2) in relief. He surrendered 2 runs and 3 hits in 1/3 of an inning.
