San Diego (UBAN) - Ryan O'Hearn cracked 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI and Shane McClanahan carried a no-hitter into the 7th inning at PETCO Park where the San Diego Braves beat the Chicago Otters by the score of 9 to 0.
O'Hearn was in a groove all evening. He doubled which scored a run in the 1st inning, lifted one out of the park for a two run home run in the 2nd inning and cracked a solo homerun in the 5th inning. San Diego had only 6 hits for the night.
The winning pitcher was McClanahan(2-0) who allowed no runs in 8 innings. The left-handed McClanahan lost his no-hit bid when Jarren Duran singled with one out in the 7th inning. Luis Patino(0-2) was hit with the loss.
Jimy Williams was asked about the performance of McClanahan, 'He had his good stuff out there tonight. The fans really get into it when the strikeouts start mounting up - and that seems to give him even more adrenalin.'
Catcher Will Smith ripped a bases loaded blast and Chris Devenski had a strong outing as the Richmond Lab Rats defeated the Jacksonville Jacks in 11 innings by the score of 10 to 9 at Lab Rat Stadium.
The score was knotted at 5 after nine innings. After Jacksonville tallied 4 in the top of the inning, Richmond ended up winning it in the bottom of the 11th inning. The big moment was provided by Smith who made the home-town crowd a happy bunch when he emptied the bases with a Grand Slam homerun. This was the kind of game that many fans love as the lead changed hands 5 times.
The win went to Steven Okert(1-0) who allowed no runs in 2/3 of an inning. Gabe Speier(1-6) was hit with the loss in relief. He was a hard-luck loser as he did not allow an earned run in his 1 and 2/3 innings of work.
