Los Angeles (UBAN) - Mitch Keller mowed down 13 Los Angeles batters as the Hawaii Islanders outscored the Los Angeles Angels 6 to 2.
Yandy Diaz was a seemingly constant irritant to the hometown fans as he provided much of the offense for the visitors. He lashed a single in the 1st inning, doubled in the 3rd inning and depressed the partisan hometown fans with a grand slam home run in the 6th inning. Los Angeles was out-hit by
Hawaii, 10 hits to 5.
The win went to Keller(5-1) who allowed 2 runs in 8 innings. J.P. Sears(1-4) was the losing pitcher. He got hammered, allowing 10 hits and 3 walks in 5 and 2/3 innings.
'I had my good stuff tonight.' Keller said. 'As the game went along I started to get the feeling that I was going to strike out a bunch of hitters.'
Mauricio Dubon had 2 base hits and 3 RBI at Knights Field as the Seattle Knights beat the Kansas City Monarchs by the count of 9 to 3.
Seattle won the game with an offensive outburst in the bottom of the 8th inning as they ripped Kansas City for 7 runs on 4 hits. The key at-bat was by J.P. Crawford who elicited a roar from the hometown fans when he cleared the bases with a Grand Slam homerun. Seattle banged out 11 hits on the night.
The victory was credited to Hector Neris(1-0) who went 1 and 2/3 innings, allowing no runs. Jesse Chavez(0-2) was charged with the loss in relief. He was unable to retire a batter giving up 1 hit and 2 walks.
