Suarez' 9th Inning Slam Lifts Knights Over 'Rats; Musgrove Goes 8 Scoreless as Sluggers Humble Mar

Richmond (UBAN) - The Seattle Knights came roaring back in the top of the ninth to spoil the anticipated celebration of the hometown fans. The final score,, was 8 to 7.
Seattle scored the decisive runs in a big top of the 9th inning when they tallied 5 runs on 4 hits. The big moment was provided by Eugenio Suarez who silenced the crowd when he depressed the partisan hometown fans with a grand slam home run. Richmond went down without a fight in the bottom of the 9th.
Elvis Peguero(3-0) was the winner allowing no runs in 1 and 2/3 innings. Alex Lange(1-1) ended up with the loss in relief. He gave up 2 hits and 1 walk in 2/3 of an inning.
George Smiley was not very talkative after his team's tough loss. 'I'm not in the mood for questions, but I'm sure Lou Piniella will be glad to talk about the game as long as you have questions to ask.'
Joe Musgrove went 8 strong innings as the Louisville Sluggers man-handled the Memphis Marauders - the final score was 12 to 0.
Louisville jumped on top of Memphis in the 2nd inning scoring one runner on 2 base hits. That was all the offense they were to need. Louisville lit up the scoreboard in the 8th inning when they had 4 runs on 5 hits. Louisville had many opportunities throughout the game and scored in 6 separate innings.
The win went to Musgrove(1-4) who allowed no runs in 8 innings. Kenny Rosenberg(0-2) suffered the loss. He allowed a few too many baserunners giving up 9 hits and 3 walks in 4 innings.
