Kansas City (UBAN) - Ranger Suarez mowed down 12 St. Louis batters and second baseman Jake Cronenworth collected 2 extra-base hits and had 3 RBI at Monarch Stadium as the Kansas City Monarchs beat the St. Louis Browns 8 to 1.
Suarez(5-4) had a strong outing. He allowed only 3 hits and 2 walks in 8 innings lowering his ERA to 4.02. Kansas City had 10 hits overall, while St. Louis had 3.
Patrick Sandoval(2-5) suffered the loss. He struggled with his control issuing 6 walks in 3 and 2/3 innings. Boog Powell was upset after the game. 'I don't like to complain but did you see that umpires strike zone?', he said. 'Maybe they ought to start calling the strike zone the way it's printed in the rule book.'
Rafael Devers ripped 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI at Globe Life Field as the Memphis Marauders beat the Dallas Colts by the count of 8 to 5.
Devers had a big day with his bat. He smashed a two-run homer in the 1st inning, banged out a single in the 3rd inning and cracked a solo homerun in the 4th inning. Memphis had 11 hits for the night while Dallas had 8.
Clarke Schmidt(2-3) went 5 and 1/3 innings allowing 5 runs for the victory. The loss was charged to Joey Wentz(1-4). He was unable to control the Memphis offense and allowed 6 hits and 2 walks in 3 and 1/3 innings.
