Wranglers Edge Angels As Suzuki Delivers; Montgomery Wins #8 as Sluggers Blank Sounds

San Antonio (UBAN) - One run was the difference at Wranglers Park as the San Antonio Wranglers defeated the Los Angeles Angels 4 to 3.
San Antonio brought 3 runs across the plate in the bottom of the 7th inning when they had 4 base hits. The big moment was provided by Seiya Suzuki who made the San Antonio fans a happy lot when he popped a two-run clout over the fence. Adam Ottavino, after tossing a perfect ninth, was credited with his 3rd save.
Drew Verhagen(1-0) got the win allowing no runs in 1 and 1/3 innings. Kyle Harrison(0-1) was the loser. San Antonio now has a record of 27-23. With this loss, Los Angeles has a 4-6 record of late, 31-20 overall.
Kerry Carpenter smacked 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI as the Louisville Sluggers topped the Nashville Sounds by a score of 9 to 0 at Sounds Field.
The Nashville fans didn't appreciate the big day Carpenter had. He smashed a bases-empty 'big-fly' in the 4th inning, cracked a two-run shot in the 5th inning and doubled in the 7th inning. For the game Louisville out-hit Nashville 13 to 6.
Jordan Montgomery(8-3) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 8 innings. The losing pitcher was Colin Rea(2-6). He served up 3 gopher balls in 4 and 1/3 innings.
