Estrada Homers in 9th to Power 'Hens Past Chiefs; 4-Run 9th Brings Pitt Back to Defeat Otters

Toledo (UBAN) - Thairo Estrada homered and had 2 RBI at Klinger Field as the Toledo Mud Hens won a thriller over the Atlanta Chiefs, 8 to 6.
Toledo scored the decisive runs in a big 9th inning with 2 runs. Mike Tauchman led off and got things going when he drew a walk. Estrada followed next and he popped a two-run clout over the fence making Toledo victorious to the delight of the the home town crowd. Toledo managed 9 hits in their victory.
The winning pitcher was Jake Junis(1-4) who allowed no runs in 2 innings. Trevor Richards(2-1) absorbed the loss in relief. He surrendered 2 runs and 1 hit in 1/3 of an inning.
Right fielder Whit Merrifield had 4 hits and 2 RBI as the Pittsburgh Alleghenys staged a dramatic comeback over the Chicago Otters by a score of 7 to 6 at Otter Park.
Pittsburgh had the winning rally in the top of the 9th inning when they tallied 4 runs on 4 hits. The crucial at-bat was provided by Brandon Belt who quieted the crowd when he clubbed a two-run home run. The score went back-and-forth with the lead changing 5 times.
Dauri Moreta(6-0) went 2/3 of an inning allowing no runs for the victory. Moreta got relief help from Pierce Johnson who gained credit for his 4th save. Paul Sewald(1-1) was the losing pitcher in relief.
