June 17, 2024
Richmond (UBAN) - Luis Robert slammed 4 homeruns and had 6 RBI as the Baltimore Elite Giants man-handled the Richmond Lab Rats - the final score was 13 to 0.
Robert was unconscious all day. The Richmond fans hated to see him approaching the batter's box as he just kept delivering base hits! He hit a bases-empty home run in the 1st inning, cracked a solo homerun in the 5th inning, blasted a solo shot in the 6th inning, lined a base-hit plating a run
in the 7th inning and cracked a two-run shot in the 9th inning. The Baltimore offense smacked the Richmond pitching staff around, scoring in 8 of the 9 innings.
Tony Gonsolin(6-3) got the win allowing no runs in 7 innings. Garrett Whitlock(1-3) was tagged with the loss. He got hit pretty hard, allowing 7 hits and 2 walks in 4 and 1/3 innings.
'They made a couple of mistakes and I took full advantage,' Robert said 'next time I'm sure they'll pitch me tougher.'
In a wild and wooly game at Marauders Park, the Milwaukee Stars finally topped the Memphis Marauders by the score of 14 to 13 in.
The game was decided in the top of the 9th inning. Bryson Stott smacked a single. Joe Mantiply then let one slip out of his hand for a wild pitch. After an out was recorded, T.J. Friedl was hit by a pitch. Lane Thomas was up next and he banged out a single scoring the run. Thomas took second on the throw. The Milwaukee offense was great, scoring in 7 of the 9 innings.
Chris Stratton(3-6) went 5 innings allowing 6 runs for the win. David Robertson preserved the game for Stratton, recording his his 15th save. Mantiply(0-3) was charged with the loss in relief.
'Some days it just all comes together, and this was one of them' Friedl said. 'I've been seeing the ball pretty well lately.'
