Varsho and Luzardo Seal Wranglers Win Over Lab Rats; Saints Persevere to Dampen Sounds

San Antonio (UBAN) - Daulton Varsho smashed 2 homeruns and Jesus Luzardo delivered 7 solid innings at Wranglers Park as the San Antonio Wranglers beat the Richmond Lab Rats 5 to 2.
San Antonio jumped on top to stay in the 3rd inning scoring a single run using 2 hits. San Antonio managed only 5 hits on the night.
The victory went to Luzardo(8-6) who went 7 innings, allowing no runs. Lucas Giolito(5-6) was the loser. He served up 3 homeruns in his 5 innings.
40,453 fans watched an exciting game at Sounds Field. The Salt Lake City Saints topped the hopeless Nashville Sounds by the slimmest of margins, 5 to 4.
Salt Lake City scored 3 runs in the top of the 2nd inning with the help of 3 hits. The critical plate appearance was by M.J. Melendez who disappointed the partisan crowd when he doubled bringing home two baserunners. Nashville made it exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to push the needed runs across.
The win went to Zach Eflin(6-5) who allowed 3 runs in 7 innings. Eflin got help from Caleb Ferguson who was credited with his 6th save. Matt Waldron(0-3) suffered the loss. Salt Lake City knocked him around a bit, as he gave up 3 runs in 2 and 2/3 innings.
