Williams Impresses in Debut as Knights Blank Monarchs; Otters Score 4 in 9th to Walk-Off Chiefs

Kansas City (UBAN) - Gavin Williams(1-0), with relief help from Hector Neris, handcuffed the Kansas City Monarchs batters at Monarch Stadium in an evening game. The Seattle Knights scored 7 runs for the win.
Seattle took the lead for keeps in the top of the 2nd inning scoring a single run using 2 hits. The early run support proved sufficient for Williams and Seattle. That was all the run support Williams required. For the game Seattle out-hit Kansas City 15 to 2.
Neris earned the save, his 3rd. Kevin Gausman(6-5) absorbed the loss. He gave up 7 hits and 1 walk in 5 innings.
Ryan McMahon blasted 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI at Otter Park as the Chicago Otters pulled off a dramatic comeback beating the Atlanta Chiefs by the count of 6 to 5.
Chicago came up with the deciding runs in the bottom of the 9th inning when they scored 4 runs on 4 hits. The highlight belonged to McMahon who came through for the home fans when he clubbed a three-run home run. Atlanta was out-hit by Chicago, 16 hits to 10.
Bryse Wilson(3-4) allowed no runs in 2/3 of an inning, and picked up the victory. Will Smith(4-2) was the loser in relief. 'We just wouldn't give up,' McMahon said. 'Much of the credit goes to our fans - they were with us the whole way.'
