Burnes, Mejia Lead Otters Over Indy; Wranglers Rally in 9th to Tame Chiefs

Indianapolis (UBAN) - Francisco Mejia knocked 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI and Corbin Burnes retired 10 batters on strikeouts at Longhorn Stadium as the Chicago Otters, running on all cylinders, ripped the struggling Indianapolis Longhorns by a large 11 to 0 margin.
Mejia had a big day at the plate. He clubbed a solo home run in the 3rd inning and belted a three-run homer in the 4th inning. Offensively, Chicago was a juggernaut. They scored in 6 separate innings.
Burnes(9-3) got credit for the victory, pitching 8 innings and allowing no runs. Grayson Rodriguez(2-10) was the loser. He surrended 4 homeruns in his 3 and 2/3 innings.
Burnes was humble when questioned about his performance, 'Well, I felt pretty confident in my pitches this afternoon. But, I had great support behind me and I just threw what was called. That was an extremely well called game!'
The sizzling San Antonio Wranglers came roaring back in the top of the ninth to spoil the anticipated celebration of the hometown fans. The final score was 3 to 2.
San Antonio scored the decisive runs in a big 9th inning plating 2 runs on 3 base hits. After an out was recorded, Gleyber Torres got things going when he smashed a solo-shot out of the park. After another out, Mitch Garver came to the plate and drew a walk. Seiya Suzuki then ripped a base-hit. Dansby Swanson was up next and he laced a base-knock scoring the final run of the inning. San Antonio finished with 9 hits while Atlanta ended up with 4.
The winning pitcher was Kirby Yates(2-6) who allowed no runs in 1 and 1/3 innings. Will Smith(4-3) was given the loss in relief. He pitched 2 and 1/3 innings giving up 2 hits and 2 walks.
'Aaron Boone was estatic following the game, 'You love stealing one on the road like this. We just kept plugging away until we pulled it out!'
