St. Louis (UBAN) - Tanner Houck carried a no-hitter into the 6th inning as the St. Louis Browns defeated the San Diego Braves by a score of 4 to 0 at Sportsman's Park.
Houck(6-6) was simply too much for the San Diego batters. He allowed just 1 hit and no walks in 7 innings lowering his ERA to 3.93. The right-handed Houck lost his chance for a no-hitter when Bo Naylor singled with two outs in the 6th inning. St. Louis finished with 7 hits in the victory.
The loss was charged to Michael Kopech(5-6). He pitched 4 and 1/3 innings and surrendered 5 hits and 4 walks.
Third baseman Rafael Devers ripped 2 homeruns at Marauders Park where the Memphis Marauders beat the Pittsburgh Alleghenys in 11 innings by the score of 9 to 7.
The score was knotted at 5 after nine innings. Memphis won it in the 11th inning. The crucial at-bat was provided by Sam Hilliard who came through for the home fans when he cleared the fences for a two-run home run. A wild and woolly affair, this game saw the lead change 5 times.
Mike Baumann(4-0) went 2/3 of an inning allowing no runs for the win. Pierce Johnson(0-2) was hit with the loss in relief. Memphis now has a record of 49-47. With the loss, the Pittsburgh ballclub's record is 53-45.
