July 24, 2024
San Francisco (UBAN) - Joe Musgrove mowed down 12 San Francisco batters and Brendan Donovan had 2 base hits as the Louisville Sluggers outscored the San Francisco Seals 2 to 1.
Musgrove(7-8) pitched one of his finer games as he simply was too much for the San Francisco batters. He allowed only 5 hits and 1 walk in 8 innings seeing his ERA drop from 4.53 to 4.21. The game was a scoreless duel until the 6th inning.
Musgrove got relief help from Jose Alvarado who gained credit for his 9th save. Logan Webb(7-8) was tagged with the loss. He pitched 7 and 1/3 innings allowing 6 hits and no walks.
Musgrove was humble when questioned about his performance, 'Well, I felt pretty confident in my pitches tonight. But, I had great support behind me and I just threw what was called. That was an extremely well called game!'
41,699 fans were treated to a fine game at Knights Field as only one run separated the combatants at game's end. The Dallas Colts won by the slimmest of margins, 3 to 2.
The game was deadlocked at 2 after nine full innings. Dallas ended up winning it in the 10th inning. After an out was recorded, A balk was called. J.T. Realmuto was next and he hit a deep fly scoring the run. Dallas had 8 hits for the night while Seattle had 5.
The winning pitcher was Pete Fairbanks(5-1) who allowed no runs in 1 and 2/3 innings. Kenley Jansen (1-3) absorbed the loss in relief. He was the victim of a defensive lapse and did not allow an earned run in the game.
