Vancouver (UBAN) - Second baseman Zack Gelof slammed a homerun and had 6 RBI at Death Lemur Field as the Vancouver Death Lemurs beat the Louisville Sluggers by the count of 14 to 6.
Gelof had a great day at the plate. He had the crowd cheering his every move. He tripled which was good for two runs in the 1st inning, smashed a solo-shot out of the park in the 4th inning and doubled bringing in two baserunners in the 5th inning. Vancouver dominated offensively as they scored in 6 different innings.
Jose Urquidy(1-2) got credit for the victory, pitching 5 and 2/3 innings and allowing 5 runs. Jake Irvin(2-6) was the loser. He gave up 8 runs in 4 innings of work.
Vancouver now has a record of 51-54. With the loss Louisville now has a record of 48-59.
Wade Miley(5-3), with relief help from Julian Merryweather, constrained San Diego while the Baltimore Elite Giants scored 5 runs in a day game at PETCO Park.
Miley was solid in the win. He was stingy on the mound, allowing just 4 hits and 1 walk in 7 innings. Baltimore finished with 10 hits while San Diego ended up with 6.
Shane McClanahan(8-7) took the loss. He struck out 10 batters in 7 innings despite losing the game.
