August 3, 2024
Seattle (UBAN) - Third baseman Eugenio Suarez slammed 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI and Tarik Skubal reeled off a total of 11 strikeouts at Knights Field as the Seattle Knights beat the Los Angeles Angels by the count of 9 to 1.
The Seattle fans enjoyed the offense provided by Suarez. He blasted a solo shot in the 2nd inning and launched a three-run homer in the 3rd inning. After the 3rd inning, neither team was able to score.
The win was credited to Skubal(5-0) who went 7 innings allowing 1 run. Anthony Desclafani(11-5) was given the loss. He surrended 4 homeruns in his 1 and 2/3 innings.
'Everything felt great' Skubal said. 'I had a good fastball, I felt I could throw it by everybody tonight.'
Taylor Ward hit 3 doubles and had 3 RBI as the Atlanta Chiefs came back to win one over reeling Washington Federals, 10 to 9.
Atlanta had the game winning rally in the 9th inning with 2 runs utilizing 2 base hits. After an out was recorded, Ha-Seong Kim began the rally when he banged out a single. Mike Yastrzemski was next and he drew a walk. Shintaro Fujinami then let one slip out of his hand for a wild pitch. After another out, Ward came to the plate and was walked intentionally to load the bases. Jurickson Profar came up to bat and slapped a one-base hit plating a run. Harold Castro added to the outburst and reached on an error giving Atlanta the victory as 49,986 happy fans celebrated wildly. Washington was not lacking for run support as they scored in 5 separate innings, yet victory eluded them as they seemed to forget that pitching is also needed to win ballgames.
The victory was credited to Clay Holmes(4-2) who went 1/3 of an inning, allowing no runs. Fujinami (3-6) suffered the loss in relief. He gave up 1 run and 1 hit in 1/3 of an inning.
