Otters Roll Over Aguilas Behind German's 10 Ks; Skubal Flirts With No-No as Knights Blank Sounds
August 8, 2024
Mexico City (UBAN) - Domingo German racked up an impressive total of 10 strikeouts and Leody Taveras had 5 hits and 3 RBI at El Nido de Aguilas as the Chicago Otters, running on all cylinders, ripped the Mexico City Aguilas Doradas by a large 11 to 0 margin.
The Mexico City fans didn't appreciate the big day Taveras had. He stroked a single in the 1st inning, lined a base-hit in the 2nd inning, doubled scoring two baserunners in the 4th inning, smacked a one-base hit in the 5th inning and banged out a single which plated a run in the 7th inning. For the game Chicago out-hit Mexico City 17 to 6.
German(10-6) went 7 and 2/3 innings allowing no runs for the win. George Kirby(9-7) was the losing pitcher. He was knocked around, surrendering 9 runs in 6 and 2/3 innings.
German didn't realize how many strikeouts he was racking up. When told he had 10 he was obviously surprised, 'No kidding? Man, I knew that I had a decent total, but I didn't think I had K'd that many. Say, that's pretty good, isn't it?'
Tarik Skubal didn't allow a hit until the 6th inning as the amazing Seattle Knights defeated the Nashville Sounds by the score of 8 to 0 at Sounds Field.
Skubal(6-0) was indeed brilliant as he hand-cuffed the Nashville offense. He gave up just 1 hit and no walks in 7 innings. The left-handed Skubal lost his chance for a no-hitter when Eric Haase singled with nobody out in the 6th inning. Seattle finished with 14 hits while Nashville ended up with 2.
Matt Waldron(0-4) took the loss. He gave up 5 runs in 4 innings of work.
