Chiefs Rally to Walk Off Rats; Martinez Homers to Push Seals Past Otters

Atlanta (UBAN) - Pavin Smith cracked a homer and had 2 RBI and Eduardo Rodriguez had a strong outing as the Atlanta Chiefs won in dramatic fashion over the Richmond Lab Rats by a score of 3 to 2 at Truist Park.

Atlanta came up with the deciding runs in the bottom of the 9th inning with 2 runs. Jurickson Profar led off the inning for Atlanta when he drew a walk. After an out was recorded, Smith came up and he popped a two-run clout over the fence giving Atlanta the victory as 49,915 happy fans celebrated wildly. Both teams finished the game with 5 hits.

Carson Fulmer(1-0) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 1 inning. Alex Lange(2-7) was hit with the loss in relief. He surrendered 2 runs and 1 hit in 1/3 of an inning.

'What a game!,' Fulmer said afterward. 'When we won it I almost couldn't believe it!'

Designated hitter J.D. Martinez went deep and had 2 RBI as the San Francisco Seals beat the Chicago Otters by a score of 5 to 4.

Matt Gage(1-0) was brilliant in relief and registered the victory. He did not allow a hit or a walk in his 1 and 2/3 innings. Alexis Diaz was great in relief and recorded his 16th save.

Domingo German(11-7) was tagged with the loss. He allowed 3 homeruns in 7 and 1/3 innings of work.
