San Antonio (UBAN) - Manny Machado slammed 3 homeruns and 5 RBI at Wranglers Park as the San Antonio Wranglers belted the Hawaii Islanders by the count of 12 to 2.
Machado had a great evening at the plate. He lofted a three-run 'big-fly' in the 3rd inning, ripped a solo home run in the 5th inning and hit a bases-empty home run in the 6th inning. Hawaii was out-hit by San Antonio, 13 hits to 7.
The winning pitcher was Logan Gilbert(18-7) who allowed 1 run in 7 innings. Tyler Anderson(4-8) was the losing pitcher. San Antonio scored big getting 5 runs off him in 2 and 1/3 innings.
The San Antonio ballclub's record now stands at a division leading 89-63. With the loss, the Hawaii ballclub's record is 70-82, worst in the division.
Gerrit Cole didn't allow a hit until the 8th inning at PETCO Park as the seemingly unstoppable San Diego Braves beat the Mexico City Aguilas Doradas by the count of 1 to 0.
Cole(18-5) dominated Mexico City hitters. He was stingy on the mound, allowing just 1 hit and 2 walks in 8 innings. The right-handed Cole lost his chance for a no-hitter when Amed Rosario singled with one out in the 8th inning. San Diego finished with just 4 hits in the victory.
Josh Hader recorded the save, his 32nd. The losing pitcher was Hunter Brown(8-11). He surrendered 1 run and 3 hits in 3 and 2/3 innings.
