Gray Wins UBA-Best 19th for Wranglers; Seals Top Angels to Clinch Play-Off Spot

Salt Lake City (UBAN) - Sonny Gray pitched 8 strong innings as the dominant San Antonio Wranglers defeated the Salt Lake City Saints 7 to 3 at Saints Field.
San Antonio scored 5 runs in the top of the 4th inning when they came up with 4 base hits. The crucial at-bat was provided by Daulton Varsho who quieted the home crowd when he doubled plating two runs. Salt Lake City was out-hit by San Antonio, 9 hits to 5.
Gray(19-5) got credit for the victory, pitching 8 innings and allowing 2 runs. Gray got help from Phil Maton who was credited with his 4th save. James Paxton(4-13) was the loser. San Antonio scored big getting 6 runs off him in 3 and 2/3 innings.
Designated hitter J.D. Martinez smashed 2 homeruns at Angel Stadium where the red-hot San Francisco Seals beat the Los Angeles Angels by the score of 9 to 5.
Martinez really lit it up for San Francisco. The Los Angeles fans let him have it for what he did to their boys. He delivered a single in the 1st inning, cleared the bases with a Grand Slam homerun in the 2nd inning and clubbed a solo home run in the 5th inning. San Francisco had 11 hits for the
night while Los Angeles had 8.
The winning pitcher was Reese Olson(17-1) who allowed 2 runs in 5 innings. Anthony Desclafani(13-8) was the loser. 'I felt great out there tonight' Martinez said. 'I was seeing the ball perfectly, and I was right on it with my swing.
