Aguilas Score 4 in 10th to Down Islanders; Senga Fans 12 as Alleghenys Edge Stars

September 23, 2024

Honolulu (UBAN) - The Mexico City Aguilas Doradas tallied 4 runs in the 10th inning and bested the Hawaii Islanders in 10 innings by a 9 to 5 score at Aloha Stadium.

Both teams had scored 5 runs after nine full innings. Mexico City ended up winning it in the 10th inning. The critical plate appearance was by Jose Siri who silenced the stadium when he lofted a three-run bomb. Hawaii had 12 hits in the game while Mexico City had 7, but Mexico City had the more timely hits.

The victory went to Camilo Doval(6-5) who went 2 innings, allowing no runs. Chase Silseth(2-3) was the losing pitcher in relief. He surrendered 4 runs in 1 and 1/3 innings and saw his ERA increase from 3.03 to 3.36.

Kodai Senga whiffed 12 batters and second baseman Marcus Semien had 3 base hits and 2 RBI as the Pittsburgh Alleghenys outscored the ice-cold Milwaukee Stars 2 to 1.

Senga(12-10) gave Pittsburgh a solid outing. He surrendered 9 hits and 3 walks in 7 and 2/3 innings. Milwaukee had a chance in the 9th but they came up short.

Senga got help from Pierce Johnson who earned his 26th save. The loss was charged to Seth Lugo(12-8). Bud Abbott was asked about the performance of Senga, 'He had his good stuff out there this afternoon. The fans really get into it when the strikeouts start mounting up - and that seems to give him even more adrenalin.'
