Down By 7, Stars Score 8 to Walk Off Highlanders; Braves, Marauders Keep Play-Off Hopes Alive

Milwaukee (UBAN) - Ryan Jeffers collected 4 RBI with one swing of the bat at Miller Park and Kike Hernandez delivered the walk-off win with a homerun as the Milwaukee Stars won in dramatic fashion coming back to beat the New York Highlanders by the count of 10 to 9.
An offensive explosion by Milwaukee in the 9th inning ended any New York hopes for a victory as they creamed New York blasting them with 8 runs on 7 hits. The critical plate appearance was by Jeffers who made the crowd happy when he brought the hometown folks to their feet with a Grand Slammer to bring the Stars within one run of the lead. Elehuris Montero then tied the game with a solo balst setting the stage for Hernandez' heroics. Milwaukee out-hit New York for the game, 18 hits to 15.
Ryne Stanek(7-3) got credit for the victory, pitching 3 innings and allowing 5 runs. Garrett Cleavinger (0-1) suffered the loss in relief. He surrended 3 homeruns in his 1 inning.
Davey Johnson was all smiles after the ballgame, 'It sure was looking pretty dim there for a while, but our guys never gave up - and neither did our fans - they kept cheering us on. What a sweet win!'
Yordan Alvarez slammed 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI at El Nido de Aguilas where the San Diego Braves beat the Mexico City Aguilas Doradas by the score of 8 to 0.
Alvarez enjoyed a big evening at the plate. He cleared the fences for a two-run home run in the 1st inning and cracked a two-run shot in the 5th inning. San Diego had 10 hits overall, while Mexico City had 4.
Dane Dunning(8-10) got credit for the victory, pitching 8 innings and allowing no runs. Jose Berrios (13-9) suffered the loss. He served up 3 gopher balls in 5 and 2/3 innings.
And in Nashville, 11,861 fans were treated to a fine game at Sounds Field as only one run separated the combatants at game's end. The Memphis Marauders won by the slimmest of margins, 4 to 3.
Memphis scored the winning runs in the 8th inning plating 2 runs on 3 hits. Brent Rooker led off the inning for Memphis when he banged out a single. Amir Garrett then uncorked a wild one that found its way to the backstop. After an out was recorded, Jonah Heim then doubled which scored a run. After
another out, Corey Julks stepped up to the plate and he doubled scoring the final run of the inning. Memphis had 10 hits for the night.
Ryan Walker(7-4) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 1 and 2/3 innings. Nick Ramirez earned the save, his 5th. Garrett(9-8) was hit with the loss in relief.
