Duvall, Merrifield Homer as Allghenys Take Game 1 in New York

New York (UBAN) - Adam Duvall and Whit Merrifield connected with a 'big flies' and had 2 RBI apiece at Babe Ruth Park where the Pittsburgh Alleghenys beat the New York Highlanders by the score of 4 to
2 in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Championship Series.
Tyler O'Neill got the Highlanders on the board first with a two-run jack in the bottom of the second inning. The Allghenys tied the game in the top of the sixth when Adam Duvall connected for a two-run homer and then Whit Merrifield broke the tie in the next inning with a two-run shot of his own.
Bailey Ober(1-0) gave Pittsburgh a solid outing. He surrendered 6 hits and 2 walks in 6 innings. Ober struckout 7 New York batters. Pittsburgh had a total of 7 hits for the game.
Ober got help from Pierce Johnson who was credited with his 1st save. Nathan Eovaldi(0-1) suffered the loss. He surrendered 4 runs and 6 hits in 6 and 2/3 innings.
