Pittsburgh (UBAN) - In a tight game it was the New York Highlanders 5, the Pittsburgh Alleghenys 3
at PNC Park. The Highlanders put five runs on the board early and then hung on as the Alleghenys chipped away at the lead but fell short at the end.
Griffin Canning(1-0) pitched a fine game. He surrendered 4 hits and 1 walk in 6 innings. New York had 8 hits for the night. Justin Lawrence preserved the game for Canning, recording his his 3rd save. The loss was charged to Nick Pivetta(0-1).
