St. Louis Browns To Hire Edgar Martinez as New Manager
November 6, 2024
St. Louis (UBAN) - The St. Louis Browns announced today that former franchise great Edgar Martinez will be taking over as the club's field manager for the upcoming season, replacing Boog Powell. Powell announced his retirement at the end of the 2024 campaign.
Martinez is the only .400 hitter in UBA history, posting that average in the 1996 season while the Browns played in Denver. He was also part of the Mustang teams that won seven staight division titles and six straight Western Conference pennants between 1998 and 2004; and won two UBA titles.
