March 28, 2025
New Orleans (UBAN) - Robbie Grossman cracked 2 homeruns and had 5 RBI at The House of Blues as the New York Highlanders beat the New Orleans Blues 6 to 2.
Grossman was unconscious out there. While New Orleans pitching was serving softballs up there for him to hit, the New Orleans fans were serving up some hardball barbs when he entered the batter's box. But he just used it as fuel for the fire. He smashed a two-run homer in the 3rd inning, clubbed a three-run home run in the 5th inning and laced a one-base hit in the 7th inning. New York finished with 10 hits while New Orleans ended up with 7.
Erick Fedde(1-0) went 8 innings allowing 2 runs for the win. Jeffrey Springs(0-1) was the loser. New York scored big getting 5 runs off him in 4 and 1/3 innings.
Grossman was in a good mood after the game, 'I'm just seeing and hitting the ball real well now. I made some adjustments last week and they are paying off. That's what this game is about. making adjustments as the season goes along.'
In Oakland, Corbin Burnes delivered 8 solid innings as the Oakland Black Panthers defeated the Vancouver Death Lemurs by a score of 4 to 0 at Black Panther Park.
Burnes(1-0) was virtually untouchable. He allowed just 1 hit and no walks in 8 innings, while striking out five Lemurs. After the 3rd inning, neither team was able to score.
Frankie Montas(0-1) was hit with the loss. He pitched 6 and 2/3 innings giving up 5 hits and 7 walks.
