March 29, 2025
Pittsburgh (UBAN) - Bryan Reynolds had 4 hits at PNC Park as the Milwaukee Stars beat the Pittsburgh Alleghenys 5 to 1.
Milwaukee scored 3 runs in the decisive top of the 3rd inning when they came up with 3 base hits. Donovan Solano opened up the inning nicely when he delivered a base-hit. Reynolds stepped up next and he laced a base-knock. Lane Thomas then lost the ball over the fence for three runs. That was all Bryce Miller(1-0) needed. Both teams finished the game with 7 hits.
Javier Assad(0-1) ended up with the loss. He gave up 4 runs and 5 hits in 6 and 1/3 innings.
In San Diego, Lawrence Butler rocketed 2 homeruns at PETCO Park where the Dallas Colts beat the San Diego Braves 4 to 3.
Dallas started with a bang, jumping out to an early lead in their half of the first plating an isolated run. After an out was recorded, Butler became the sole author of the rally when he cracked a bases-empty home run. San Diego had a chance to come back in the 9th but they came up short.
The win went to Yu Darvish(1-0) who allowed 2 runs in 5 and 1/3 innings. Darvish was helped out by Pete Fairbanks who recorded his 1st save. The losing pitcher was Spencer Arrighetti(0-1). He surrended 3 homeruns in his 7 innings.
'We just made a lot of mistakes, mostly mental,' Jimy Williams said. 'It's bad enough when the other team beats you, but when you start beating yourselves, that's really bad.'
