Jacks Capture First Win of Season, Helped by Higashioka Heroics; Monarchs End Loss Skein as Schwelle

Toledo (UBAN) - Kyle Higashioka smacked 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI as the Jacksonville Jacks beat the Toledo Mud Hens by a score of 8 to 3.
Higashioka provided the offensive punch. He smashed a solo-shot out of the park in the 2nd inning and lifted one out of the park for a two run home run in the 5th inning. Both teams totaled 8 hits on the afternoon.
Trevor Williams(1-1) went 7 innings allowing 2 runs for the win. Freddy Peralta(0-1) ended up with the loss. He gave up 4 runs in 2 and 2/3 innings of work.
In Honolulu, Jake Cronenworth had 3 base hits and 3 RBI and Spencer Schwellenbach pitched 7 and one third strong innings at Aloha Stadium where the Kansas City Monarchs beat the Hawaii Islanders 4 to 1.
Kansas City brought 3 runs across the plate in the top of the 7th inning when they had 3 base hits. They would prove to be the difference in the contest. Kansas City had 10 hits overall, while Hawaii had 3.
The win went to Schwellenbach(1-1) who allowed 1 run in 7 and 1/3 innings. Jojo Romero preserved the game for Schwellenbach, recording his his 1st save. The losing pitcher was J.T. Ginn(0-1). He pitched 6 and 2/3 innings giving up 8 hits and 2 walks.
