Baltimore (UBAN) - One run was the difference at Roy Campanella Field as the Baltimore Elite Giants ended a long winless drought and defeated the Richmond Lab Rats 3 to 2.
Baltimore had 2 runs cross the plate in the 5th inning. After two outs Joey Meneses started the attack as he laced a base-knock. Luis Robert stepped up next and he drew a walk. Cody Bellinger then doubled knocking home two runners. Richmond had a chance to come back in the 9th but they came up short.
The victory went to Miles Mikolas(2-0) who went 6 and 1/3 innings, allowing 2 runs. Mikolas got help from Emmanuel Clase who earned his 1st save. Cody Bradford(0-2) was charged with the loss. He was stingy with the baserunners, allowing just 4 hits and 2 walks in 8 innings.
'After the stretch we have been through lately, this victory is especially sweet' offered Mark Hamill. Now, we just have to make this the norm - not the exception!'
In Mexico City, Juan Soto blasted 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI as the Aguilas Doradas defeated the Jacksonville Jacks by a score of 10 to 5 at El Nido de Aguilas.
Soto provided much of the offense. He delivered a solo blast in the 1st inning and launched a three-run homer in the 2nd inning. After the 3rd inning, neither team was able to score.
George Kirby(2-2) got credit for the victory, pitching 8 innings and allowing 5 runs. Tanner Bibee (0-3) was charged with the loss. He served up 3 homeruns in his 1 and 2/3 innings.
