Chiefs Tally Three in 9th to Upend Sluggers; Browns Best Longhorns in Central Showdown

Atlanta (UBAN) - Carson Fulmer had an impressive outing as the Atlanta Chiefs staged a dramatic comeback over the Louisville Sluggers by a score of 3 to 2 at Truist Park.
Atlanta had the winning rally in the bottom of the 9th inning plating 3 runs on 4 base hits. Josh Smith got things going when he laced a one-base hit. Kody Clemens followed and he doubled. Mike Yastrzemski then delivered a single driving in a run. After an out was recorded, Miguel Amaya came to bat and ripped a base-hit resulting in an exciting win for Atlanta and a raucous post-game celebration by the home town fans. Atlanta banged out 8 hits on the night.
Fulmer(1-1) got credit for the victory, pitching 4 and 2/3 innings and allowing no runs. Ryan Helsley (1-1) absorbed the loss in relief.
'That was exciting!,' Amaya said. 'I would have paid money to watch this one.'
41,886 fans were treated to a fine game at Sportsman's Park as only one run separated the combatants at game's end. The St. Louis Browns defeated the Indianapolis Longhorns by the slimmest of margins, 2 to 1.
In the 7th inning St. Louis scored 1 run. Gunnar Henderson laced a one-base hit. Teoscar Hernandez followed next and he drew a walk. After an out was recorded, Michael Conforto then drew a walk to load the bases. Gleyber Torres followed next and he hit a deep fly scoring the run. The teams had
been locked in a scoreless duel until the 6th inning.
Walter Pennington(1-0) allowed no runs in 1/3 of an inning, and picked up the victory. Jose Urena gained credit for his 1st save. Jose Leclerc(1-2) was the losing pitcher in relief.
