Colts Top Longhorns to End 6 Game Drought; Sluggers Hang On to Beat Highlanders

April 22, 2025

Dallas (UBAN) - 41,472 fans watched an exciting game at Globe Life Field. The Dallas Colts were certainly pleased to stop the bleeding as their 6 game losing streak was finally halted and topped the Indianapolis Longhorns by the slimmest of margins, 4 to 3.

J.T. Realmulto was the hero, smacking a three-run homerun in the bottom of the 8th inning. Paul Sewald(3-1) was given credit for the win. He went 1 and 1/3 innings allowing 1 hit and 1 walk. Neither team was able to score until the 6th inning.

The Longhorns threatened in the top of the ninth but Pete Fairbanks preserved the game for Sewald, recording his his 5th save. Porter Hodge(2-1) absorbed the loss in relief.

In New York, Keegan Akin was great in relief and second baseman Abraham Toro slammed a homerun and had 4 RBI at Babe Ruth Park as the Louisville Sluggers beat the New York Highlanders by the count of 7 to 6.

Louisville brought 4 runs across the plate in the top of the 6th inning. The key at-bat was by Toro who deflated the crowd as he clubbed a three-run home run. New York had 12 hits in the game while Louisville had 9, but Louisville had the more timely hits.

The win was credited to Michael Lorenzen(2-1) who went 6 and 2/3 innings allowing 5 runs. Akin recorded his 1st save. Griffin Canning(0-2) was given the loss.

'I always am most impressed when a pitcher finds a way to win even without his best stuff,' Joe Orsulak said after the game. 'Lorenzen did not have command of his pitches most of the afternoon, but he proved he really knew how to pitch!'
