April 28, 2025
Seattle (UBAN) - Gavin Williams(2-0) was on top of his game in Seattle as he tossed a beauty of a no-hitter against the Hawaii Islanders. The Seattle Knights won by a score of 2 to 0.
Williams was spectacular. He walked 5 Hawaii batters. The tension was mounting with every inning after the 6th. Williams appeared oblivious himself to the mounting history until two were out in the 9th. Only then, did he allow himself one deep sigh and a slow trip around the mound. Williams chalked up 13 strikeouts. Seattle managed 8 hits in their victory.
Mitch Keller(4-2) was the loser. 'Williams pitched one heck of a game!' Lou Piniella said. 'He didn't get away with any bad pitches because he just didn't throw any bad pitches. What a performance!'
In Toledo, center fielder Cedric Mullins smashed 2 homeruns as the Toledo Mud Hens topped the Louisville Sluggers in 10 innings by a score of 9 to 6 at Klinger Field.
Both teams had scored 3 runs after nine full innings. Louisville scored three in the top of the tenth. But, Toledo was victorious in the bottom of the 10th inning. The big moment was provided by Mullins who made the Toledo fans a happy lot when he emptied the bases with a Grand Slam homerun. Both teams finished the game with 10 hits.
Phil Maton(2-2) went 1 inning allowing 3 runs for the victory. Ryan Helsley(1-3) was the loser in relief. He pitched 2/3 of an inning allowing 3 hits and 2 walks.
'I've spent a lot of time in the cage and made some adjustments and they've paid off,' Mullins said. 'I just take the same approach up there. I don't overanalyze it. I go up there, see the ball and try to put a good swing on it.'
