Islanders Rally to Avoid Sweep, Walk-off Aguilas; Irvin Dominates as Sluggers Blank Blues

Honolulu (UBAN) - Nick Martinez pitched 7 strong innings as the Hawaii Islanders won in dramatic fashion over the Mexico City Aguilas Doradas by a score of 2 to 1 at Aloha Stadium.
Hawaii erupted with the game winning runs in the bottom of the 9th inning scoring 2 runs using 4 hits. Bligh Madris led off and started the attack as he doubled. Camilo Doval then let one slip out of his hand for a wild pitch. Royce Lewis then doubled knocking in a run. Elly De La Cruz stepped in and he was hit by a pitch. Jurickson Profar stepped into the box and banged out a single to load the bases. After an out was recorded, Willi Castro stepped up to the plate and he doubled resulting in an exciting win for Hawaii and a wild post-game celebration by the home town fans. Hawaii had only 5 hits for the game.
The winning pitcher was Jake Bird(1-1) who allowed no runs in 1 inning. Doval(0-3) was given the loss in relief. He pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up 4 hits and no walks.
Jake Irvin took a no-hitter into the 6th inning and Starling Marte hit 2 doubles and had 2 RBI at The House of Blues where the Louisville Sluggers beat the New Orleans Blues 7 to 0.
Irvin(4-1) came through with a virtuoso performance against the New Orleans hitters. He allowed just 3 hits and 2 walks in 8 innings reducing his ERA from 5.72 to 4.86. The right-handed Irvin lost his no-hit bid when Brendan Rodgers singled with nobody out in the 6th inning. Louisville finished with 14 hits while New Orleans ended up with 3.
Martin Perez(0-4) was the losing pitcher. He got hit pretty hard, allowing 8 hits and 2 walks in 3 and 2/3 innings.
