Washington (UBAN) - Declan Cronin had an impressive outing and BRandon Lowe provided the extra inning heroics at Federals Park where the Washington Federals beat the Toledo Mud Hens in 10 innings 11 to 8.
Both teams were tied at 7 runs apiece after nine innings. Washington came out the victor in the 10th inning. The critical plate appearance was by Brandon Lowe who elicited a roar from the hometown fans when he clubbed a three-run home run. Washington had 10 hits for the afternoon.
Kyle Muller(4-2) went 2 innings allowing 1 run for the victory. Phil Maton(2-3) ended up with the loss in relief. He pitched 2 and 1/3 innings giving up 2 hits and no walks.
And in Mexico City Ty France provided another walk-off win and Hunter Brown reeled off a total of 10 strikeouts at El Nido de Aguilas as the Mexico City Aguilas Doradas came back dramatically to top the San Francisco Seals by the score of 2 to 1.
Mexico City came through with the game-winning runs in the bottom of the 9th inning with 2 runs utilizing 4 base hits. After an out was recorded, Mookie Betts got things going when he smashed a bases-empty 'big-fly'. Isiah Kiner-Falefa was next to bat, but he was a strikeout victim. Soto then doubled. Austin Riley came up and he was walked intentionally. Jose Siri stepped into the box and stroked a base-hit to load the bases. Ty France kept things alive and delivered a single resulting in an exciting win for Mexico City and a wild post-game celebration by the home town fans. Mexico City had only 5 hits for the afternoon.
The victory went to Yennier Cano(2-0) who went 2/3 of an inning, allowing no runs. Raisel Iglesias(1-2) was the loser in relief. He gave up 4 hits and 1 walk in 2/3 of an inning.
Cano and Soto were really whooping it up in the clubhouse after the great come from behind victory. As John Smoltz noted, 'A win like this one can do wonders for a team's attitude.' Everyone shares in the joy - the fans, the players - even you guys - it's better than winning by a dozen runs!'
