A Pair of 4-Run 9th Inning Rallies Deliver Comeback Victories for Feds, Mud Hens

Nashville (UBAN) - Bailey Falter came through with a solid 6 and two third innings as the Washington Federals staged a dramatic comeback over the Nashville Sounds by a score of 5 to 2 at Sounds Field.

Washington erupted with the game winning runs in the 9th inning when they came up with 4 runs on 5 hits. The key offensive moment was provided by Vladimir Guerrero Jr who quieted the home crowd when he doubled which was good for two runs. Washington had 11 hits for the night while Nashville had 3.

The win was credited to Alex Faedo(3-1) who went 1 and 2/3 innings allowing no runs. Faedo was helped out by Trevor Megill who recorded his 16th save. Jhoan Duran(0-4) was the losing pitcher in relief. He allowed 5 hits and no walks in 1 inning.

'I pin this one on my own shoulders,' Duran said. 'The bottom line is I didn't get the job done. Our fans deserve better than this.'

Cedric Mullins had 2 base hits at PNC Park as the Toledo Mud Hens pulled off a dramatic comeback beating the Pittsburgh Alleghenys by the count of 6 to 3.

Toledo scored the winning runs in the 9th inning as they scored 4 runs on 2 base hits. The critical plate appearance was by Seth Brown who silenced the crowd when he slapped a base-hit scoring two baserunners. Pittsburgh proved to be no trouble in the bottom of the 9th.

Dedniel Nunez(2-1) was the winner allowing no runs in 3 innings. Tayler Scott(4-2) was tagged with the loss in relief. His ERA increased from 3.06 to 3.68 as he allowed 4 runs in 1 and 1/3 innings.

'We just kept swinging the bats and didn't give up,' Mullins said. 'If you just keep trying good things can happen!'
