Highlanders Muscle Way to 4-Game Sweep of Stars; Chiefs' Boyd Loses No-Hit Bid With 2-Out in 9th

Milwaukee (UBAN) - Cal Raleigh rocketed 2 homeruns and scored 3 times as the New York Highlanders defeated the reeling Milwaukee Stars by a score of 9 to 6 at Miller Park.

Raleigh had a big day with his bat. He laced a one-base hit in the 2nd inning, delivered a solo blast in the 3rd inning and smashed a bases-empty 'big-fly' in the 7th inning. New York had 10 hits for the game and Milwaukee had 6.

Nate Pearson(3-1) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 2 and 2/3 innings. Garrett Cleavinger preserved the game for Pearson, recording his his 7th save. Ryan Brasier(0-4) took the loss in relief.

Matt Boyd carried a no-hitter into the 9th inning as the Atlanta Chiefs topped the Jacksonville Jacks by a score of 3 to 0 at Jacks Field.

Boyd(1-1) was on top of his game. He was stingy on the mound, allowing just 1 hit and 2 walks in 8 and 2/3 innings. Boyd racked up 9 strikeouts improving his ERA from 4.38 to 2.57. The left-handed Boyd lost his no-hit bid when Whit Merrifield singled with two outs in the 9th inning. Atlanta finished with 8 hits in the victory.

Boyd got relief help from Pedro Avila who gained credit for his 5th save. Yariel Rodriguez(2-6) was the loser. Despite losing, he struckout 7 Atlanta batters in 4 and 2/3 innings.
