San Francisco (UBAN) - The San Francisco Seals pitching staff gave the fans an afternoon that they'll never forget by tossing a combined no-hitter! The tension started to build around the 6th inning. By the 9th inning the crowd was electrified. Justin Steele started the game, Carmen Mlodzinski relieved him amd Jason Adam was perfect in the ninth giving him his 3rd save on the season.
Steele(9-2) was the winner allowing no runs in 5 innings. Jameson Taillon(3-10) was the loser. He allowed 1 run and 5 hits in 7 and 1/3 innings.
'You probably have a better chance of winning the lottery than this happening,' said Steele who got credit for the win, 'I don't expect it to sink in for awhile.' he said. 'You know, it's hard to say who was better, the starter or the bullpen!'
Right fielder Harold Ramirez had 2 base hits and Logan Gilbert mowed down 13 Seattle batters at Knights Field as the San Antonio Wranglers beat the Seattle Knights by the count of 1 to 0.
Gilbert(6-7) looked very much in control throughout the day. He allowed only 5 hits and no walks in 7 innings seeing his ERA drop from 3.53 to 3.32. Seattle threatened in the 9th but their rally came up short.
Jorge Lopez recorded the save, his 9th. Gavin Williams(5-6) absorbed the loss. Lou Piniella was impressed with Gilbert and his 13 strikeouts. 'It's tough to generate runs if you can't make contact with the ball.'
