Bride Homers Twice, Drives in 7 to Propel Chiefs; McCutchen Drives in 5 as Giants Double Up Angels

July 14, 2025

Pittsburgh (UBAN) - Jonah Bride smashed 2 homeruns and drove in seven as the Atlanta Chiefs bested the Pittsburgh Alleghenys 9 to 7 at PNC Park.

Bride had a big day at the plate. He smacked a single in the 1st inning, emptied the bases with a Grand Slam homerun in the 2nd inning and lofted a three-run bomb in the 6th inning. Due to a poorly pitched ballgame, scoring in 5 different innings was still not enough for Pittsburgh to come away with

the victory.

Bowden Francis(6-3) allowed no runs in 2 and 1/3 innings, and picked up the victory. Griffin Jax preserved the game for Francis, recording his his 20th save. Luis Castillo(7-5) was hit with the loss.

'They made a couple of mistakes and I took full advantage,' Bride said 'next time I'm sure they'll pitch me tougher.'

Andrew McCutchen had 4 hits and 5 RBI at Roy Campanella Field where the Baltimore Elite Giants beat the Los Angeles Angels 12 to 6.

McCutchen enjoyed a big day at the plate. He laced a one-base hit in the 2nd inning, cleared the fences for a two-run home run in the 3rd inning, slapped a base-hit knocking in a run in the 7th inning and ripped a base-hit bringing in two baserunners in the 8th inning. Overall Baltimore out-hit Los Angeles 15 to 10.

Justin Slaten(5-2) was the winner allowing no runs in 1 and 2/3 innings. Zack Wheeler(10-5) was the loser. He got hammered, allowing 9 hits and 3 walks in 5 and 1/3 innings.

'Actually, I didn't feel that comfortable at the plate today' McCutchen said after the game. 'Despite that, I'm happy with the results!
