Eastern Conference Stars Explode for 5 Runs in Top of 7th to Down West, 6 - 1

July 16, 2025

Honolulu (UBAN) - The Eastern Conference sits 58 games under .500 in inter-conference play this season, but any perceived advantage that fact might have given the West was not in evidence tonight at Aloha Stadium, as the East All Stars stunned their Western counter-parts, 6 - 1.

Scoreless after two frames, the East opened the scoring in the top of the third as New York's Riley Greene conneced off of Chicago's Tyler Glasnow for a solo home run. The West matched that as Aaron Judge - the UBA home run leader - connected on his own solo shot in the bottom of the fourth off of Miami's Max Fried. The score remained knotted at one until the top of the seventh.

With Salt Lake City's Cole Ragans on to pitch, pinch-hitter Steven Kwan greeted him with a solo shot to right field, giving the East a 2 - 1 lead. Ragans was able to quickly retire Miami's Nick Castellanos and the Sluggers' Kerry Carpenter. Washington;s Willy Adames was able to work a two-out walk. Memphis' Ketel Marte - batting for starter Jose Altuve - lined a single into left field. John Smoltz then brought on Vancouver's Luis Ortiz to pitch. The Highlanders' Freddie Freeman promptly dropped a bloop single to right-center, scoring Adames and sending marte to third. Brent Rooker of Memphis, batting for Ohtani, then lifted a three-run homer into the second deck in left field to end the scoring.

The winning pitcher was the Lab Rats' Shota Imanaga. Ragans was tagged with the loss. The MVP was Buffalo's left-fielder, Steven Kwan.

The Nashville Sounds will host the 48th Annual All Star Game which will be played on Tuesday, July 14, 2026. Until then....
